The Project
Municipal public plaza
Calgary's climate is one of the toughest tests in North America for outdoor infrastructure: sudden chinook wind events, intense summer UV at elevation, and hard seasonal swings. For this municipal project, CSC Shade specified and engineered the Glatz Palazzo Royal giant parasol system.
Wind-tunnel certified to 120 km/h, each unit is anchored with heavy-duty in-ground sleeves so the plaza remains obstruction-free and safe for public traffic. The water-repellent Class 5 polyacrylic canopies are built for municipal duty cycles — highly lightfast, UPF 50+, and serviceable season after season with minimal maintenance.
This project shows what CSC Shade brings to Canadian municipalities directly: local engineering judgment, manufacturer-backed Swiss hardware, and shade infrastructure that survives prairie weather.
