The Project
Waterfront dining terrace
Aqua Asia Club serves Asian fine dining from Rotterdam's Kop van Zuid, its terrace looking straight onto the Erasmus Bridge and the Maas. Harbour wind and hard afternoon glare off the water made an under-built parasol a liability the venue couldn't carry.
The restaurant installed the flagship Glatz Palazzo Royal — a giant commercial parasol covering up to 49 m² and sheltering as many as 20 guests under a single canopy. Wind-rated to 120 km/h on a reinforced structural aluminium mast, it holds its ground in the river corridor's gusts, and the patented crank mechanism lets one staff member deploy or close the entire canopy in seconds.
For waterfront restaurants across North America facing the same physics — open water, channelled wind, premium covers at stake — the Palazzo Royal is the scale and stability benchmark.
